Tratamiento y seguimiento

In general, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can be managed with medication. However, if medication is ineffective or if you wish to avoid long-term medication use, your doctor may recommend a fundoplication. This is a minimally invasive procedure in which the surgeon wraps the upper part of the stomach around the lower esophageal sphincter to tighten the muscle and prevent reflux.
