Gastric balloon
ABOUT OF
Intragastric balloon placement is a weight-loss procedure that involves placing a silicone balloon filled with saline solution in your stomach. This helps you lose weight by limiting the amount you can eat and making you feel full faster. Intragastric balloon placement is a temporary procedure that does not require surgery.
The intragastric balloon procedure may be an option if you have concerns about your weight and if diet and exercise haven't worked for you.

DR. JUAN CARLOS
TREATMENT AND FOLLOW-UP
The intragastric balloon procedure is performed in the endoscopy unit as an outpatient procedure.
During the procedure, an endoscope (a flexible tube with an attached camera) is inserted through your throat and into your stomach. The gastric balloon is attached to the endoscope, allowing your doctor to see the balloon being inserted into your stomach and inflated with saline solution.
The procedure takes about half an hour. If everything goes well, you can go home 1 or 2 hours after the procedure is finished.
