gastric sleeve
ABOUT OF

Gastric sleeve surgery is a bariatric procedure used to treat obesity. It reduces the size of the stomach and controls appetite by decreasing the production of ghrelin, the hunger hormone.

This surgery allows you to achieve long-term weight loss. The amount of weight you lose depends on the lifestyle changes you make. You may lose about 60%, or even more, of your excess weight within two years.

TREATMENT AND FOLLOW-UP

Gastric sleeve surgery involves a laparoscopic or minimally invasive procedure to reduce the size of the stomach and regulate hunger hormones. To perform this procedure, your bariatric surgeon will make a vertical incision and staple the stomach to create the sleeve, which will resemble a tube about the size of a banana, removing the largest part of the stomach.

The surgery typically lasts between one and two hours. After surgery, you will wake up in a recovery room, where medical staff will monitor you for any complications.

Following your surgery, you will receive close follow-up care from our multidisciplinary team. A nutritionist will play a fundamental role in your recovery and be key to your successful weight loss.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is essential.
